India to be severely affected by new ICC rule
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to implement a new rule in World Cups, as from now on the strength of a contingent should not exceed more than 23 members. Previously they would allow 25 members.
This new rule by the world body could severely affect composition of the squads during global events. Specially India and England’s team could be the most affected, as they are known to send large contingents for the ICC tournaments.
Apart from India and England, sometimes even Australia also send big contingents. For one ICC event, an England squad had some 28 members. The currently New Zealand tourning India team also has 28 members — 15 players, four coaches, two throwdown specialists, one trainer, one physio, two masseurs, one manager, one logistics manager and one media manager.
